When asked about the casting for the upcoming film The Mummy in a recent interview with UK newspaper The Times, star Tom Cruise said that he is casting a female lead.

“I’m trying to cast a woman,” Cruise said.

“She’s just as important as a man.

It’s like everyone’s like everybody else.

And it’s just a matter of casting the right person.”

The Mumbad who will play her?

“Oh, I’m not even sure yet.

That’s a new character,” Cruise added.

While the film’s director, Steven Spielberg, is the first to confirm the role, the film is also set to cast several other cast members.

As reported by the Times, Cruise’s wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, will play a British archaeologist, who is also “just as important” as his American wife.

When asked if she is casting “someone who’s the exact opposite of me,” Paltrows answer was “no.”

“It’s like the next step.

And I think she’ll be a good role model for a lot of other girls,” she added.
